Testing to see if the herpes 2 virus is gone from my body. Which test?

by Cathy

To my surprise I was diagnosed with HSV 2 in the Summer of 2009. Since than I have taken the resolve herpes 50 day 2 part detox and then all of the booster. I waited several weeks and had a repeat blood test. I can fax you the results so you can see exactly what test I had. I think it was to test for the antibodies which I know doesn't address whether I still have the active virus in my body or not. On one page it is titles "Herpes Simplex, PCR Serum" The result was HSV 1 DNA: NOT DETECTED and HSV @ DNA: NOT DETECTED. The second page titles"Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and 2 AB Specific reads:
Component Value Range
HSV-1 AB, SERT, QN, EIA NEGATIVE Negative index

HSV 2 IGG, EIA Positive for Negative Index
antibody response

Is there a better test I can take that tests for the virus dead or alive instead of the antibody??

Answer
As you don't say I assume the PCR was done on a blood sample. The standard IgM/IgG blood tests cant tell you if viral DNA is present or not because herpes virus is not present in blood in their latent stages, only a PCR DNA test can. The PCR can be done on blood but its uncertain more reliable when done on spinal fluid. If your doctor has the ability to perform a spinal tap, ask for PCR DNA test instead.

The standard blood tests cant confirm a cure no.
