Proof of Lectroject's effectiveness herpes acyclovir drug delivery

by Steven
(Pennsylvania US)

I am concerned with the validity of this option because of the vast amount of information on hsv2. How can I truly trust that this product works and that it isn't another empty promise?

Answer

Until the 1980's there was no known treatment for viruses apart from interferon, lately drugs such as acyclovir (Brand names like Zovirax, Valtrex and Penciclovir) have been developed which, while not 100% effective can vary, depending on the method of administration, from 47% to 85% successful. Acyclovir is what we use in conjunction with the device. Although not a "cure-all" acyclovir is a very significant advance in the management of viral diseases. Used through Lectroject the drug becomes a powerful antiviral. Our blind trials carried out at Benmed Park Hospital Clinic showed a mean average of 85%.

The proof of the effectiveness of the Lectroject is contained in the announcement by Transport Pharmaceuticals, Carlyle Venture Partners and Quaker Bioventures who, funded by GlaxoSmithKline are spending US$ 27 million to develop this same system which they hope to release this year. I doubt that they would do this for a system that isn't proven to be effective.

GlaxoSmithKline is one the USA's largest drug companies who manufacture an antiviral called Zovirax. They've acknowledged iontophoresis to be the most efficient drug delivery system in existence. The machine itself does not cure herpes, it delivers medication to the cell. The success or failure depends entirely on the medication used.

The Technology (iontophoresis) that Glaxo is attempting to duplicate is indeed ours they've been working on it since 2004, what better testimonial can there be to the effectivness of our system.

We are located and operating from Johannesburg South Africa. We happened to develop the technology in 1996. We are actually 10 years in advance of that company and intend to maintain that lead. We still have first world scientists in South Africa who invent machines and techniques far in advance of the rest of the World, I refer to the Cat Scan, Heart Transplant etc.
