My Doctor Is Not Qualified To Perform a Spinal Tap For The PCR-DNA Testing.

I am currently using the device. However, my Dr. is quite convinced that there is no cure for genital herpes, and that he cannot recommend a spinal tap for the PCR-DNA proof. He feels the risk is too high and procedure is not covered by my insurance. I am going to complete my 10-12 days, and am going to an IDS within the week. Do you have any suggestions/literature/etc that I can use to help get the US medical community in my corner?

Answer
Yes, doctors are not taught to perform the spinal tap at medical school. However in the hands of a suitably qualified medical practitioner it is a piece of cake.
