Answer
Helen the answer to your question is a 'big qualified' YES. People have gone from severe multiple outbreaks for years to no outbreaks or even symptoms for over five years. Some, in the Lectroject studies, have remained outbreak and symptom free for 12 years.
Although the Electro-cure treatment has been in use since 1996 here in South Africa it was only made available internationally during January 2005. The technology is so new that most doctors haven't heard of it yet.
Acyclovir cream is what is used in conjunction with the Electro-cure device, it enters the body via two electrodes. The cream is placed on the electrodes, the electrodes are applied to the inner wrists or in the case of herpes at the top and bottom of the spine to treat the entire body.
A typical course is a ½ hour session daily for 10 to 15 treatments after which the virus should be eradicated (like in gone "CURED"). To satisfy yourself that you are free from the disease you have a P.C.R. DNA test which detects viral DNA. When PCR is negative it means that no viral DNA could be detected. i.e. No viral DNA means no virus, therefore no disease. Cured. And what's more you cannot transmit a disease that no longer exists in your body.
Lectroject Iontophoresis Enhances the Effectiveness of Acyclovir for herpes. This FDA approved drug is used to treat herpes virus infections such as oral herpes, genital herpes, shingles, herpes simplex, and chicken pox. Zovirax interferes with the activity of enzymes needed for the replication of viral DNA in cells. By preventing the multiplication, the herpes virus cannot multiply as easily. The FDA approved the use of Zovirax in 1984.
The stream ions travel along the nerves. Through the apertures in the spine column and into the CSF - The ions carry atoms of medication to travel into deeper cells of the intestines. The ions follow the steam from one electrode to the other through nerve tissue, muscle tissue or mucosal surfaces. The same way as electricity would. The flow of atoms is directly through the body and is able to reach any cell anywhere.
Acyclovir interferes with the enzymes the virus needs for replication of DNA in cells and prevents the virus from multiplying. It is also incorporated into the virus DNA chain which terminates replication. In short we use words like kill, eliminate to describe this process. So antivirals kill viruses or stop viruses from multiplying.
Inhibition of DNA synthesis of virus-infected cells inhibits viral replication. In cells not infected with HSV, DNA synthesis is unaltered.
The device works by transporting atoms of the medication along an ion tract into the body tissue where it interferes with the DNA of the virus to prevent it from spreading. i.e. This machine works by infiltrating acyclovir into the cell where it neutralizes the virus and destroys it. Success rate is 85%.
