I have one question regarding to the HSV antibody test. I just did a test last week and I got result that IgM is negative but IgG is positive. Does it affect pregnant woman? Because now I'm pregnant about 5 month.
Answer
Antibody tests. The present testing for herpes is based on antibody testing as with either the IgM/IgG Elisa Test or the Western Blot Test. Both these merely signifies that the virus once existed within the body. Blood tests can find antibodies that are made by the immune system to fight a herpes infection. Antibodies stay in the blood as a normal defense mechanism. However they do not tell us anything about the likelihood of transmission.
Women with an older herpes infection have antibodies against the virus, which help protect the baby. Which means that the chance that her baby will be infected is very low -- less than 1%. Tell your doctor right away. Women with genital herpes are examined carefully for any symptoms before giving birth. If sores or signs that an outbreak is coming show up at the time of delivery, the baby may be delivered by cesarean section.
Lectroject Herpes TreatmentA typical course is a ½ hour session daily for 10 to 15 treatments after which the virus should be eradicated (gone like it never happened). To satisfy yourself that you are free from the disease you have a P.C.R. DNA test which detects viral DNA. When PCR is negative it means that no viral DNA could be detected. i.e. No viral DNA means no virus, therefore no disease. Cured. And what's more you cannot transmit a disease that no longer exists in your body.
